Tri-Generation System Configuration Selection Based on Energy and Exergy Analyses

A tri-generation system combining cooling, heating, and power generation can contribute to increased efficiency thereby reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This study proposed a novel concept using 100-kW polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) as the basis for with an integrated heat pump adsorption chiller use. Three configurations of loop were designed recover waste from PEMFCs used either direct heating or cooling in cooling. Analyses carried out terms primary energy rate (PER) exergy efficiencies. Of those investigated, layout internal exchanger demonstrated best performance, PERs modes at 0.94 0.78, respectively. Additionally, analysis revealed that exergies are mostly destroyed expansion valve evaporator due differences pressure temperature. These minimized when contains cascade exchanger, thus resolving problem destruction. As result, total destruction was decreased 61.11% 49.18% 46.60%, Furthermore, showed 36.1% 31.4% lower values consumption compared relevant works mode mode,
